Man attempts to elude deputies by swimming across South Florida lake

Naples, FL - A convicted felon tried to elude sheriff's deputies following a traffic stop by swimming across a South Florida lake.

27-year-old Mikael Lamar Lindsey was arrested by the Collier County Sheriff's Office after fleeing a traffic stop in East Naples.

Lindsey, a three-time convicted felon, was pulled over by deputies for not wearing his seatbelt.

During the traffic stop, Lindsey bailed from his vehicle and ran from deputies.

Officers, aided by K9, aviation and drone units, responded to the scene to help track Lindsey through a heavily wooded area.

Aviation units spotted Lindsey swimming through a lake along Airport-Pulling Road South and deputies took him into custody.

Lindsey faces charges of resisting arrest, driving on a revoked license, possession of narcotic paraphernalia, and violation of county probation.

Deputies also cited Lindsey for not wearing a seat belt.
