Flanked by the White House Coronavirus Task Force,President Trump issued some new guidelines yesterday as we cope with the spread of COVID-19. Among other things? The administration is recommending that people avoid gatherings of more than 10 people for at least the next two weeks.And a number of states are listening– closing any number of businesses.
During the briefing, Trump said everyone has a critical role to play in stopping the transmission of the coronavirus. And he’s not trying to calm any nerves about the duration of the changes to our lives. Trump warned that it could be July, Augustor laterbefore the crisis is abated in the U.S.
Trump also urged older citizens to stay home and keep away from other people. The President argued that everyone was surprised about how fast it happened. And when asked how he’d rate his administration’s handling of the crisis, he said he’d rate it "a 10." He also noted that no prior administration did what his administration is doing in responding to a public health crisis.
- The new normal in Northern California? Officialshave decreed that seven-million citizens “shelter in place” at least until April 7th. This affects residents across San Francisco, Santa Clara, San Mateo, Marin, Contra Costa, and Alameda counties. They say it’s not a full lockdown, however. Residents can still shop for essential supplies or seek medical care...and they can go outside so long as they maintain a six-foot safe zone with others. Also, officials say grocery stores, pharmacies, veterinary services, gas stations, and auto repair shops will remain open. Hardware and home supply stores, banks, and laundry services will also stay open.
- Where does the United States stand with COVID-19?At last check, there are nearly four-thousand cases across the United States – with 69 patients succumbing to the illness (the majority being elderly/nursing home patients in Washington State). Globally, the numbers stand at just over 182-thousand people infected by the virus – with just over 71-hundred dead. On the plus side, nearly 80-thousand have recovered.
