The Florida Gators (3-4, 2-2) defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs (4-3, 0-3) 23-21 on Saturday evening in Gainesville. It was the 15th straight loss in league play for Mississippi State.
Gators quarterback DJ Lagway went 20-for-34 with 280 yards in the air while throwing for two touchdowns. Jaden Baugh ran for 150 yards - a career high - and a touchdown.
The Bulldogs had the ball in field goal range in the waning seconds with a chance at a field goal to win it, before Michai Boireau got the interception to clinch the win. The win came amidst continued speculation about Billy Napier's future as the head coach of the Florida Gators.
The Gators are next in action when they take on their rival Georgia Bulldogs on November 1st. Kickoff between Florida and Georgia is scheduled for 3:30 PM on Saturday November 1st from Jacksonville.
