Two Officers Shot In Deadly Squatter Investigation

Two Miami-Dade Police Officers shot confronting a squatting suspect in Cutler Bay. The department reports the detectives got to the home off Southwest 222nd Street and the suspect was armed with a shotgun. He fired, striking a 35 year old officer in the upper torso, the other officer, 57, was shot in the upper body and face.

Police Director Stephanie Daniels released a statement says, "this type of violence toward my officers will not be tolerated- by the grace of God they are alive today."

Both officers, not identified as of yet, remain at Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial South. A third female officer was also injured, but expected to be OK. The suspect was shot and died at the scene.
