Broward Parents Weigh In On Sex Ed

Let's talk about sex....Broward County parents to school-aged children are being asked to weigh in on what they want their kids taught in classrooms.

Superintendent Dr. Peter Licata says about six thousand parents have already filled out a voluntary online form that asks questions on topics ranging from gender parts, reproductive health, sexual abuse, sexualy transmitted diseases and more.

Mandated Instruction in Grades K-12:

Injury prevention and safety

Internet safety

Nutrition

Personal health

Prevention and control of disease

Substance use and abuse

Prevention of child sexual abuse, exploitation, and human trafficking

Life skills including building confidence, supporting mental health, and enabling students to overcome challenges 

Mandated Instruction in Grades 6-12:

Benefits of sexual abstinence and consequences of teenage pregnancy

Mandated Instruction in Grades 7-12: 

Teen dating violence and abuse
