Rays Acquire Luke Raley As Spring Games Begin

The Tampa Bay Rays began their abbreviated Spring Training schedule with 7-6 loss to the Red Sox in Fort Myers. Christian Koss hit two home runs for the Red Sox, including a walk-off solo shot in the bottom of the ninth inning. Ford Proctor homered for the Rays in the losing effort.

Off the field, the Rays announced they had made a trade, acquiring outfielder Luke Raley from the Dodgers.

The team made the following announcement regarding the trade:

"The Rays have acquired OF Luke Raley from the Los Angeles Dodgers in exchange for right-handed pitcher Tanner Dodson. To make room on the 40-man roster, the Rays placed RH Yonny Chirinos (recovery from Tommy John surgery) on the 60-day IL."
