The average price of gas in Florida has risen to a record $4.15 a gallon and UCF economist Sean Snaith says hold onto your wallet. They could go up by another 50 cents a gallon by Memorial Day!
"We're looking at another six months of pretty pricey gasoline here before we start to see any leveling off," Dr. Snaith said, "and ultimately see prices come down again."
Snaith doesn't think President Biden's ban on the import of Russian oil into the U.S. announced Tuesday will have much impact on gas prices because we don't import that much oil from Russia.
"We don't import a tremendous amount of oil from Russia into the United States so it's symbolic more than anything."
On the other hand Dr. Snaith says the ban certainly won't help prices to come back down.
