The Florida Department of Health has issued another Health Alert for more blue green algal blooms in Lake Okeechobee.

The toxic algae has been confirmed through tests of water samples taken from at least eight areas of the lake in Palm Beach County last week.

Congressman Brian Mast is concerned the blue-green algae will make its way into area waterways through discharges.

The lake's level is just above 13.5 feet and that's much higher than it's typically allowed to be during hurricane season.

Mast was happy to hear that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recently selected a new management plan for Lake O. "Alernative CC" will move more water to the South towards the Everglades, rather than into the St. Lucie estuary.
