Miami-Dade Superintendent Carvalho's Nonprofit Under Investigation

The company behind the Miami-Dade school district's online learning platform is involved in another controversy.

A solicited donation from the software provider to Superintendent Alberto Carvalho's nonprofit is under investigation by the Inspector General.

Mary Cagle notified the school board her office is looking into the $1.57 million dollar donation made to The Foundation for New Education, which Carvalho has chaired since 2008.

K-12 says the donation was made as a reward for teachers who hit a deadline.

K12 received a no-bid contract to run the district's online learning platform called, My School Online.

That platform was scrapped shortly after the school year started due to several problems.

No word yet from Carvalho nor Miami-Dade Schools.
