Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Tests Positive For COVID-19

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19. The positive test came a few hours before he was scheduled to greet President Donald Trump at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland.

DeWine was tested as part of the standard protocol ahead of Trump's visit. Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, who was also in Cleveland to meet President Trump, tested negative.

DeWine is asymptomatic and said he will self-quarantine at his home in Cedarville for 14 days. The 73-year-old governor is a high-risk patient because of his age and his previous history with respiratory issues.

Officials said that it is unlikely that other staff members will have to quarantine because DeWine has been spending most of his time working remotely from his home

"We do an awful lot of work via technology," Dan Tierney, a governor's office spokesman, said. "The vast majority if not all governor's staff work remotely."

DeWine is the second U.S. governor to test positive for COVID-19. Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt tested positive on July 15 but has since recovered and returned to work.
