South Florida Woman Shot By Rubber Bullet During Police Protests Testifies

The South Florida woman shot in the face with a rubber bullet during a George Floyd protest in Ft. Lauderdale last month is appearing remotely this morning before the House of Representatives' Oversight Subcomittee on Civil Rights and Liberties. 34-year-old LaToya Ratlieff of Delray has more questions than answers about the shooting leaving her with a fractured eye socket and wounds requiring 20 stitches. She says she was kneeling peacefully when she was hit with tear gas before the rubber bullet. The Ft. Lauderdale police detective who hit her remains on active duty but is under an internal affairs investigation.
