Florida Schools Discuss Coronavirus Plans With Health Officials

Many schools around the state will be used as polling places for the March 17th presidential preference primary and that has some concerned.

Palm Beach County School Board member Frank Barbieri told Department of Health officials campuses will need a deep scrub down amid coronavirus concerns.

"I want to make sure that our schools are not infected by lots of people that come into the schools who may be infected, so that when they come back to school the next day, they're sick."

School Boards around the state are meeting with health officials to discuss various concerns, including field trips and family spring break plans.

The Health Department is telling parents that anyone who leaves the country can expect a health evaluation upon returning.

In Palm Beach County, no field trips have been canceled, but Superintendent Dr. Donald Fennoy says he reserves that right up to the day the trip is scheduled.

The school district has already started doing expansive cleaning of every campus and kitchen every day for the rest of March. Afterwards, they'll re-evaluate to see whether it needs to continue.
