Testimony is now underway in the trial of accused Orlando cop killer Markeith Loyd. But Loyd isn't on trial for murdering Lieutenant Debra Clayton.
First, he is on trial for murdering his ex-girlfriend, Sade Dixon. In opening statements, prosecutors described Loyd as an angry, jealous man. The defense accused the media of turning Loyd into a monster, even before his trial began.
The defense lawyer also said that Loyd would take the stand at testify in this death penalty trial.
The trial is expected to last about two weeks.
Loyd will be back in court in the spring, when he will be tried for killing Lt. Clayton back in 2017.
