Rick Scott Proposing New College Tuition Standards

When he was governor, Rick Scott says he was able to cap runaway costs at public universities.

Now that he's a senator, he wants to do the same all across the country.

Scott says if universities were forced to pay some of a student's defaulted loan balance, they'd have an incentive to see them graduate with a good job.

Scott says he's also submitting a bill that would cut all federal funding from any university that raises tuition and fees.

Colleges and universities need to have more skin in the game if one of their students doesn't pay their loan.

That's one of Senator Rick Scott's proposals to bring down the cost of higher education.

He believes the policy would be an incentive for colleges and universities to put graduates on a successful career path so they can graduate and pay all of their loan debt.
