Video Shows Hitman Trying to Kill Woman With Crossbow Hidden in Box

Shocking video released by Canadian police show a hitman dressed as a delivery driver trying to kill a woman using a high-powered crossbow hidden inside a box in a "targeted" hit.

Detectives with the Peel Regional Police say last November, the wannabe hitman rang the home's doorbell and waited for the 44-year-old woman to answer. Once she did, the pair exchanged words and the man fired the crossbow. The crossbow was armed with a big game arrow, which is mainly used by hunters to take down animals like elk and moose.

The victim managed to shut the door and call 911 for help. The man ran off, still holding the package that concealed the crossbow.

Detectives searched the crime scene area around the home for any physical evidence of the hitman's presence, but came up empty. Authorities believe the victim was targeted based on comments made by the suspect to her.

The victim sustained serious injuries to her internal organs that will leave her in a recovery phase for the rest of her life, authorities added. The woman spent several months in a hospital following the Nov. 7 attack.

"The injuries that she sustained were absolutely devastating," said Peel police Det. Sgt. Jim Kettles at a news conference.

Canadian police say the suspect may have taken off from the scene in a dark colored pick-up truck. Detectives have released the surveillance video in hopes someone might recognize the suspect and call police with a tip that could lead to his capture. The victim saw the man clearly, but did not recognize him, police said. Police note that the suspect may have been wearing a wig under his hat.
